Truth?
Just between us?
Usually, when I’m adding a little fall foliage to my house? I just step outside and shop the yard.
But this year in Texas is a little challenging. I may or may not have mentioned it, but we haven’t had any rain in months and it’s been over 100 degrees every day. It’s a leaf wasteland around here.
Dried-up leaves and branches and grasses.
Sigh.
The nerve of them.
Turning brown in a super not cute, dried-up way.
So this year, I did something I normally never do and shopped for faux fall stems, and along the way I discovered something amazing.
There’s a whole world of faux fall stems out there that I never even knew about. I’m shopping more online this year, and that has widened my shopping horizons just a little.
If you are like me and your outdoor leaves aren’t cooperating?
Here are a few of my favorite fall stems.
//pomegranate stems //
The fall stems in my house fall into three major color patterns.
There’s a little fall inspiration for every one.
Okay.
Let’s unpack the stems I used this year in that order.
// similar fall branches // similar silver dollar eucalypus //
This arrangement just has two different types of fall stems.
I used my go-to silver dollar eucalyptus in maroon as a base and filled up the vase with five stems.
Then I used my favorite faux stem trick and twisted leaves like these out to create visual interest.
You can see similar silver dollar eucalyptus here.
This pomegranate stem is tucked into the corner of the entryway (with the new wall color).
The leaves combined with the mini pomegranates just look like fall.
They come in a set of three and the branches are 37 inches long (I cut them off to fit into this vase).
You can see the pomegranate stems here.

I’m all about neutrals and golds this year for my fall kitchen.
This basket is a mix of cream stems and brown silver dollar eucalyptus.
(total aside: I added velvet pumpkins to this arrangement since these pictures were taken and it adds even more texture.)
I love stems with long ends like this because they work so much better in my balloon vases.
You can find similar cream stems here.

// brown eucalyptus stems (similar) // twinkle lights //
I also used the same brown eucalyptus stems here.
White pumpkins are tucked into baskets, and then I added corn stalks and wood beads.
And then?
I added those same twinkle lights that I set on a timer, and they come on every evening.
(total aside: there is NOTHING better than walking into a room and seeing those twinkle lights.)
// selection of orange stems //
I love orange this year.
(total aside: I just went and bought more pumpkins yesterday to fill the containers outside).
Well, actually, I love it every year, but this year I’m loving the pop of color more than ever.
I just stuffed vases full of these orange fall leaves everywhere and fluffed them all in different directions.
You can see the orange stems here.
// orange leaf garland // bittersweet stems (similar) //
I’m also loving orange for the fall mantel in the living room.
I layered this garland with bittersweet branches and more twinkle lights that I set on a timer, too.
It’s asymmetrical with branches and stems draped to one side.
(total aside: do not SLEEP on bittersweet branches for fall. They are my favorite branches because they bring the drama when you add them to an arrangement).

Right now? Fall seems a million miles away.
But in reality?
October is just around the corner.
And when it gets here?
I want to make sure my house is ready for it.
Happy fall shopping. 🙂
